Healthy adult albino rats were subjected to heat stress at 40.0+or-0.5 degrees C daily for 5 days. A group of heat-treated rats were simultaneously treated with serum gonadotropin FSH plus LH. Another group received only the hormone treatment. Based on histology, follicles were divided into 7 types, and these data were used to quantify folliculogenesis. Heat stress adversely affected folliculogenesis. Hormone treatment alone resulted in a 5-fold increase in folliculogenesis. |
