Semen samples collected from 8 crossbred bulls were treated with detergent-0.75 mM cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) or 0.025% Teepol xL-to separate the acrosome from the sperm head. CTAB was more effective than Teepol xL (separation in 98.125 vs. 75.875% of spermatozoa). Both detergents caused serious damage to the acrosome, which became shrunken, distorted or disintegrated. |
