A alimentação destaca-se como um dos fatores mais importantes na piscicultura, uma vez que influencia diretamente o crescimento e a saúde dos peixes. Tal fator é determinante para a produtividade e a lucratividade de um empreendimento, podendo representar até 70% dos custos operacionais de uma piscicultura intensiva. Nesse sentido, o emprego de rações balanceadas torna-se fundamental, a fim de assegurar o fornecimento quali-quantitativo de nutrientes essenciais aos peixes confinados, proporcionando bom desempenho zootécnico e boa qualidade final do pescado. A avaliação da qualidade física das rações deve ser implantada como rotina pelo piscicultor sempre que um novo lote de ração for adquirido, já que existem diferenças, principalmente quanto à formulação, entre um lote e outro de um mesmo fabricante de ração. |

The purpose of this publication is to inform the national and the international community of the research development achieved through Phase I of the project for the integration of development based on the sustainable use of the forest in the State of Acre, in the Brazilian Western Amazon. The project became operational after the may 1989 technical and financial cooperative agreement was signed by the International Tropical Timber Organization - ITTO, the Brazilian Government, and the State of Acre, represented by the Technology Foundation of the State of Acre - FUNTAC. The main long term objectives of this project is to encourage and promote forest-based sustainable development in the State of Acre, as part of an integrated land-use policy that could be used as a model for other parts of the Amazon as well as other regions of the world with tropical forests. The main goal is to raise the standard of living of the rural population, to guarantee the economic prosperity of the State of Acre and the wealth for the region in ways that are environmentally and economically sound. We hope that the results of this project will allow for a more profound understanding of the Amazon region as well as provide answers to some of the most challenging questions being raised today; the answers to which the survival of mankind itself is dependent. |
