Abstract: Ten progeny were examined from each of five Southdown sires, three Suffolk sires, and two Dorset Down sires all mated to Romney ewes. The lambs sired by Suffolks and Dorset Down rams grew faster than those sired by Southdown rams. The Suffolk cross lamb carcasses contained more meat and less fat than those of the other breeds. |
