In Leucaena leucocephala, multiple shoot buds were induced from germinating seeds on medium with benzylaminopurine [benzyladenine] (BAP) at 50-150 5M in vitro. Shoots were successively multiplied 3-4 times every 4 weeks in the medium containing 0.5 5M BAP and 0.025 5M IBA. It is calculated that about 1 600 000 shoots could be obtained from a single shoot in a year by this technique. Plant regeneration was achieved by rooting from single shoots. The rooting rate was 70% at 5 5M IAA. Some of the control cultures (without auxin) also produced roots. |
