O babaçu é um dos principais produtos extrativistas do Brasil. O desmatamento e a expansão da fronteira agrícola contribuem para a erosão genética do babaçu implicando na perda de genes que podem ser importantes em futuros programas de melhoramento. Portanto, é de fundamental importância a realização de estudos envolvendo coleta, conservação e caracterização para a preservação da variabilidade genética existente nessa região. Assim, a variabilidade genética entre cinco genótipos de babaçu, de diferentes procedências pertencentes ao BAG da Embrapa Meio-Norte, foi analisada por meio de marcadores RAPD e ISSR. Um total de 21 e 72 loci foram obtidos com os primers de RAPD e ISSR, respectivamente.. As matrizes geradas foram correlacionadas pelo Mantel test e obteve-se o coeficiente r=0,548 o que indicou uma moderada correlação genética. Ambos os marcadores foram eficientes na determinação das relações genéticas entre os genótipos. |

The purpose of this publication is to inform the national and the international community of the research development achieved through Phase I of the project for the integration of development based on the sustainable use of the forest in the State of Acre, in the Brazilian Western Amazon. The project became operational after the may 1989 technical and financial cooperative agreement was signed by the International Tropical Timber Organization - ITTO, the Brazilian Government, and the State of Acre, represented by the Technology Foundation of the State of Acre - FUNTAC. The main long term objectives of this project is to encourage and promote forest-based sustainable development in the State of Acre, as part of an integrated land-use policy that could be used as a model for other parts of the Amazon as well as other regions of the world with tropical forests. The main goal is to raise the standard of living of the rural population, to guarantee the economic prosperity of the State of Acre and the wealth for the region in ways that are environmentally and economically sound. We hope that the results of this project will allow for a more profound understanding of the Amazon region as well as provide answers to some of the most challenging questions being raised today; the answers to which the survival of mankind itself is dependent. |
