We studied the Taquari River in the Pantanal Mato-grossense region and Baia River in the floodplain of the Upper Parana River. The main objective was to describe characteristics of periphyton biomass in those systems. We identified that 88% of the periphytic biomass in the Taquari River was derived from inorganic source, and 55% in the Baia River. These results suggests the presence of large autotrophic biomass in the Baia River. |
