The main objective was to describe characteristics of periphyton biomass in those systems. We identified that 88% of the periphytic biomass in the Taquari River was derived from inorganic source, and 55% in the Baia River. These results suggests the presence of large autotrophic biomass in the Baia River. abiomass achlorophyll aPantanal aperiphyton aBiomassa aClorofila aBaia River aFloodplain aPlanicie de inundacao aRio Baia aRio Taquari aTaquari River1 aRODRIGUES, L.1 aOLIVEIRA, M.
