In this study, we investigated the influence of isothermal treatment of poly(lactic acid) (PLA) 3D printed samples at different crystallization temperatures. In this case, we analyzed the effect of each crystallization temperature on spherulites formation in printed PLA, affecting the final mechanical properties of pieces. For such, the thermomechanical properties, morphological structure, and crystallization kinetics were analyzed before and after thermal treatment. The 3D printed samples were heat treated at 80#1;C, 90#1;C, 100#1;C, 110#1;C, and 119#1;C. With annealing, we observed an improvement in the mechanical PLA properties; however, the exothermic crystallization peak was different for the samples. Pieces before annealing were found to have a low crystallinity index (Ic) of 2%–7%, and the pieces after annealing presented a considerable Ic (27%–34%). Annealing temperatures of 100#1;C, 110#1;C, and 119#1;C produced the fastest crystallization kinetics, while annealing temperatures of 80#1;C and 90#1;C resulted in the lowest crystallization kinetics for complete crystallization. After annealing, improvement in the flexural strength (34%–47%) and Young's modulus (26%–51%) for all annealed pieces occurred. The appropriate condition was observed at 100#1;C, which was the onset temperature of crystallization, owing to the combination of the shorter time of crystallization with the increased mechanical properties |

Abstract: The aim of this work was to determine the activity of peroxidase son papaya fruit submitted to physical treatments with hot water and ozone, applied individually or combined throughout 8 days of storage. A lot of 102 papaya fruits (group Solo), from a commercial area, with no postharvest treatment , was submitted to the hot water (70º C/15s) and ozone (1,5 ppm) treatments, applied individually and in combination. Control treatment consisted of fruits not submitted to the se physical treatments. After the treatments, the fruit were stored under refrigeration (10 ± 2ºC e 80 ± 2% of relative humidity) for 7 days and for one day in air-conditioned room (23 ± 2ºC). To determine peroxidase activities, samples of stem-end region (peel +pulp) were collected daily throughout the storage period. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design with four treatments and six replications, each replication being a sample from fruit. Throughout the first six days of storage under refrigeration, the enzymatic activity of peroxidases was similar among the treatments. On the 7th and 8th day, there was an increase in peroxidase activities in the fruit submitted to the physical treatments combined. The combination of hot water and ozone treatments interfered on metabolism of the fruit by activating the defense-related enzyme, which can indirectly improve the effect of physical treatments on the control of postharvest disease.
