They are being used for the most diverse purpose, ranging from amusement to birth control. Their acceptance is admited to be very high, but only a few studies have tried to determine to what extent that is true. The present study attempts to find out if picture stories are effective in communicating technical information to farmers, and also to determine what elements of presentation contribute to higer effectiveness. Age, education, experience, literacy and modernity of agricultural practices are the control variables proposed that  can influence the understanding of the picture story.
