For instance, Citrus Variegated Chlorosis (CVC), caused by Xylella fastidiosa (Xf), gram-negative bacterium that dwells plant xylem and compromises citrus and grape production. Xf colonizes the xylem vessels in plants. Pathogenicity of the Xf are related to ability to move within the xylem.
