After the latent period, one leafhopper was confined per seedling in two different maize genotypes (popcorn hybrid and L22 inbred line). Leafhoppers samples were submitted to PCR analyzes before and after inoculation. Colony 1 and 2 had 27.5% and 3.3% of infected leafhoppers, respectively. Maize bushy stunt phytoplasma transmission to popcorn was almost 100% and around 30% to L22. aDalbulus maidis aZea Mays aMBS1 aSOUSA, S. M. de1 aLANDAU, E.
