S. aHíbrido de timorba valuable source of genetic variability for arabica coffee.h[electronic resource] aIn: INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON COFFEE SCIENCE, 22. 2008, Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil.c2008 aRAPD and microsatelite DNA fingerprinting was performed to investigate the introgression of C. canephora into Híbrido de Timor genome. A set of 57 genotypes was analyzed, including five C. arabica, five C. canephora, and 47 Híbrido de Timor. It was observed that the genomes of Híbrido de Timor plants are mainly composed by C. arabica and a smaller portion of C. canephora genome. Híbrido de Timor CIFC 4106 is likely to descend from at least one generation of natural backcrossing with C. arabica, not a F1 hybrid between C. arabica and C. canephora. Híbrido de Timor accesses carried variable levels of C. canephora introgressions, which are lower than presumed before, yet very important genetic variability for C. arabica breeding.
