J. aHome range, activity and habitat use of the Pampas deer Ozotoceros bezoarticus L., 1758 (Artiodactyla, Cervidae) in the Brazilian Cerrado. c1997 aThe Pampas deer was studied between 1990 and 1992, at the Ecological Reserve of the Brazilian Institute for Geography and Statistics (IBGE), Federal District, Brazil. Activity, home-range, movement pattern and habitat use were the aspects investigated for this species. Radio-tracking data were ontained for two individuals, one buck and one doe. The home-range of the buck varied between 1.2 and 6.3 km2 per month, and totalized 9.9 km2 in nine months. For the doe, it ranged between 0.8 and 3.5 km2 per month, and 5.9 km2 in six months. The home-ranges were larger during the wet season than dry season. The daily and nightly activity were equilibrated without cledar peaks of activity during 24 hours. The deer did not show preferences for any vegetation type. We also discuss the major problems to the conservation of this species in the Cerrado biome. aArtiodactyla aCervidae ahome range aHabitat aOzotoceros Bezoarticus aReserva Ecológica aBrazilian Cerrado aCervo aEcological Reserve aIBGE aPampas deer1 aLARA RESENDE, S.1 aRODRIGUES, F.
