Paddy straw formed the basal roughage for both the groups. In experimental group 10% of the total DM was fed through fresh cattle dung. The DM and crude protein digestibility co-efficients of fresh cattle dung were estimated to 48.1 +- 4.37 and 42.23+-3.2%, respectively. The nutritive value of fresh cattle dung on DM basis in terms of DCP, TDN and SE were calculated to be 3.18, 30.70 and 19.68 percent respectively. Treated fresh cattle dung was found to be fairly palatable as its incorporation with paddy straw (sole basal roughage) significantly (P<0.05) increased the DM intake and thereby improved the nitrogen balance of the animals. However, it was pointed out that there would be variation in the nutritive value of fresh cattle dung from sample to sample depending on the source. anutritive value apalatability arecycling aEsterco aGado aPalatabilidade aValor Nutritivo aCattle dung aDesperdicio organico aOrganic waste1 aB.
