Both inland areas and the more developed coastal regions require knowledge of water resource in terms of basin yield and flood discharges. This paper describes procedures established for regionalisation of maximum, median and minimum flows, based upon the existing literature and the kind of hydrological data available in Brazil. The procedures were prepared using, as test area, the Pantanal, a large swamp area in the basin of the Paraguay river (320,000 km2). A manual of practice was developed and has been adoped for regionalization in a large part of the country, covering about 4 million of km2. aPantanal aHidrografia aHydrography aRio Paraguai aRiver1 aSILVEIRA, A.1 aSANCHEZ, J.1 aALBUQUERQUE, F. t[s.n.], [19--].
