M. O. aTreated wastewater application via trickle irrigation onto gerbera crop in Teresina, state Piauí, Brazil. c2008 a4 p. aThe aim of this research is to evaluate the application of treated wastewater by trickle irrigation system using quality and breeding variables on gerberas cultivated in a greenhouse, Teresina County, Piaui State, Brazil. The completely randomized experimental design, with treatments and five replications was used. These treatments had an application of differently treated wastewater volumes combined with the application of chemical fertilizers (N and K2O). They were the following, TI - 100% chemical fertilization; TII - 25% chemical fertilization with 75% of treated effluent; TIII - 50% chemical fertilization with 50% of treated effluent; TIV - 75% chemical fertilization with 25% of treated effluent; and TV - 100% of treated effluent application. The plant?s observed growth parameters included weekly measuring of: stem height, chapter and stem diameter; and counting the number of flowers. Probably, in TV, the wastewater could not provide enough nutrients for bud appearance and flower growth (9.84 per plant during the period), TIV presented the highest average per plant, possibly due to an increase of 75% of the fertilizers (N and K2O). In spite of being a subtropical flower, the gerbera cultivated in a greenhouse and trickle irrigated using only treated wastewater showed suitable results, especially since it was being considered for its flower marketing qualities in July and August months, even though it was in a region with a hot climate. aFertirrigação aFloricultura aSistema de Irrigação1 aANDRADE JÚNIOR, A.
