A. aInvestigations of leaf sap feeding by three species of phytoseiid mites by labelling with radioactive phosphoric acid (H3 32 PO4).h[electronic resource] c1975 aThe phytoseiid mites, Amblyseius hibisci (Chant), A. stipulatus Athias-Henriot, and A. fructicolus Gonzales and Schuster, after confinement on citrus and avocado leaves labelled with radioactive phosphoric acid, were analyzed for radioactivity after 1 or 10 days. Nome of the predaceous mite species accumulated radioactivity from the lemon leaves but A. hibisci accumulated a significant amount from avocado leaves. The results indicated that A. hibisci extracts sap from avocado leaves, and that plant juice may provide an alternate source of food and/or moisture for this predaceous species. aƁcaro1 aMcMURTRY, J.
