Proliferating shoots were obtained from cotyledon segments cultured on modified Murashige and Skoog's (1962) medium with 6- benzylaminopurine. Juvenile leaf segments produced adventitious buds on Woody Plant Medium (Lloyd and McCown, 1981). Root segments gave few buds. Shoot tip, nodal, and internodal explants gave multiple axillary and adventitious buds. Shoots were multiplied by enhanced axillary and adventitious bud formation. The shoots were rooted with indolebutyric acid treatment. Rooted shoots were readily established in vermiculite: sand (1:1) mixture. atissue culture aBud development aCultura de tecidos aDesenvolvimento de gemas aGarcinia mangostana L aMangosteen aRegeneracao de apices aShoot regeneration1 aRAO, A.
