These methods make use of purified linamarase as a reagentfor the release of HCN. Though these methods are sensitive and accurate, they cannot be used for the determination of cyanoglucosides like HCN in a large number of samples in a routine experiment. In sorghum endogenous enzyme was used by Akazawa et al. (1960) for the release ofHCN from dhurrin. The released HCN was trapped in sodium hydroxide and determined by the method of aldridge (1944). A quick qualitaive method with sodiuin picrate has also been described. Attempts were made to make this method quantitative (Gilchrist et al., 1967). aCianeto aEnzimas aLinamorose1 aSINHA, S.
