N. aEffect of plant regulators on the fruit retention and quality of dashehari mango. c1973 aFRUIT drop is a serious problem of mango growers, which occurs from the stage of fruit set till harvest. Heavy losses due to fruit drop are seen in the mango orchards resulting in reduction in the economic return. Besides external factors like heat and humidity, drought, disturbances in water and mineral supply, diseases and pests, there are certain internal factors also amongst which concentration of auxins is of prime importance governing the abscission layer formation. The fruit drop is inversely correlated with the period of low auxin production during the development of fruits (Luckwill, 1957; Leopold, 1958), and the application of plant regulators at the proper time has been found effective in controlling fruit drop, if the abscission layer is found to be due to low auxin content (Erickson, 1951; Leopold, 1955). aHormonios aReguladores de crescimento aRetencao de frutos aTamanho do fruto1 aSINGH, S.
