Seedling emergence and sededling growth have been good to excellent in early spring plantings when soil temperatures were below the optimum germinating range(70 to 90F). Plant emergence and seedling growth are compareable to those of Calhoun Gray and Charleston Gray, whitch are usualy the first cultivars planted in spring by commercial growers. Fruit characteristics:fruits of Red-N-Sweet are round to oblong with slight longitudinal ridges. The blossom end of the melon is slightly indented when mature. Fruit size averages 18 to 22 pounds but frequently develops up to 35 pounds.
