M. aThe action of farnesyl ether upon houseflies, musca domestical. aLafayete: Universidade de Purdue, [s.d.].c0 a6p. aMuch work has been done in order to investigate the effects of juvenile hormone upon the epidermal cells in the different orders of insects. The pioneer work has been done by Wigglesworth who has been working with Rhodnius prolixus (HEMIPTERA). Wigglesworth working with Rhodnius sp. recognized two factors regulating moulting and metamorphosis. These two factors, he has called respectively the moulting hormone and the inhibitory hormone. To Wgglesworth the moulting hormone circulates freely in the blood and after a critical period. In contrast, the inhibitory hormone is secreted by the corpus allatum in the first four nymphal stages. aControle aPlatysamia cicropia
