Caracteriza-se agroecologia como ciência surgida a partir de busca de base teórica para sistemas orgânicos de produção. Entretanto, a agricultura orgânica é uma prática agrícola, cuja construção social apresenta alguns vieses que determinam que os limites teóricos da agroecologia sejam respeitados em maior ou menor grau. Neste sentido, o trabalho procura esclarecer Cc, tos equívocos correntes sobre agroecologia e agricultura orgânica. Observa-se também que existem perspectivas promissoras para a agricultura orgânica em nível de mercado. Ressalta-se, entretanto, para o risco clO aumento de uma produção orgânica que não respeite integralmente os princípios ecológicos definidos pela agroecologia para garantir a sustentabilidade no longo prazo. The paper presents an analysis of the technical progress evolution in agriculture induced by ellVirol1mental constrains. The rise of production systems based on agro-ecological practices is regarded as a response to the environmental impacts caused by modern .cm agriculture disregards of the natural ecological.; equilibrium. The efforts to develop of an agro-ecological science were stimulated by the search of a theoretical base for organic production production systems. The so called organic agriculture, however, is an agricultural practice whose social construction presents biases that can induce the economic agents to be more or less respectiful regarding to the theoretical limits proposed by the  ago-ecological science. In this paper is intended at the clarification of some curret misunderstandings about agro-ecology and organic agriculture. For the future is shown that there are good market perspectives for organic production.
