Most of what is known refers to the in vitro studies and have concentrated on the diazotrophs Acetobacter diazotrophicus, Herbaspirillum seropedicae and H. rubrisubalbicans which are found in association with sugar cane plants. To fully understand this interaction, it is necessary to obtain a complete picture on the ecological, physiological and molecular aspects involved in the plant-bacteria association.
