L. aAgroenergiabsituação atual e perspectivas. c2008 aThe world is quickly moving towards renewable energy, especially energetic biomass, wind and solar energy. During the next 40 years, biomass energetic carriers will be dominant, because of the more mature technology. So, the scientific and business opportunity will concentrate on this window-time. The world is right now experiencing the first generation of biomass biofuels, like firewood, bioethanol and biodiesel. These carriers are relatively inefficient as compared to the technological breakthroughs on the Science pipeline, which will improve until the complete domination of the Hydrogen as energy carrier. This scenario assumes that enough area will be incorporated to agricultural systems, in order to provide the world with the agricultural "6 Fs" (food, feed, fiber, forest, flower and fuel), based on sound and sustainable production systems, where the world savanna's area will be a cornerstone. But, we consider that there is no natural comparative advantage that can overcome scientific breakthroughs, so investments on research, development and innovation will be paramount to supply the biomass energetic carriers - without conflict with agricultural traditional products - the world will be demanding on forthcoming years. abiodiesel aEtanol aAgroenergia tIn: FALEIRO, F.
