M. V. da S. aInfluence of seed tape on damping off of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.). aMississippi: Mississippi State Universityc1974 a27p. aTese Mestrado. aThe placement of treated or untreated tomato seed in polyethylene oxide tape resulted in increased emergence from soils artificially infested with Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn and Pythium aphanidermatum (Edson) Fitzp. Growth of R. solani and P. aphanidermatum was significatly less on media amended with polyethylene oxide tape than on unamended media. The addition of as little as 0.12% (w/v) of tape to water agar resulted in 53% less growth of R. solani and 50% less growth of P. aphanidermatum when compared to the control. No significant difference was found for fresh or dry weight of seedlings, root/hypocotyl or cotyledon fractions when tomato seedlings were germinated in solutions containing various levels of polyethylene oxide tape.
