D. aEfficiency of green manure and crop production in the control of nematode under savannah conditions. aPlanaltina: EMBRAPA-CPACc1984 anao paginado. aPaper presented in the First International Congress of Nematology, Guelph, Canada, August 5-10, 1984. aFor the control of Meloidogyne javanica, Pratylenchus brachyurus, Criconemella ornata and Helicotylenchus dihystera on common beans and under field conditions, three methods were compared viz: (I) Green manuring with Crotalaria paulina; (II) Crop rotation with Tagetes patula; (III) Nematicide Furadan 5 percent granular at the rate of 325 g a.i. per ha applied in furrows. A fourth treatment (IV) a non-treated check was included. The increase of the initial population of nematodes on common beans at flowering time in first year for treatments I, II, III and IV were: 1.2, 1.5, 5.0 and 14.2 times respectively. In the second year on corn after beans the population increase were: 6.1, 50.5, 64.8 and 91.8 times for treatments I, II, III and IV respectively. The total net profit in cruzeiros per ha for two crops at the market price for different treatments was: 96,326, 89,062, 65,270 and 52,620 for I, II, III and IV respectively (US$ 1 = Cr$ 442.75 in May, 1983). agreen manures aAdubação Verde aCerrado aFeijão aHelicotylenchus Dihystera aMeloidogyne Javanica aMilho aPhaseolus Vulgaris aPratylenchus Brachyurus aRotação de Cultura aZea Mays aBean aCriconemella ornata aMaize aNematoide de planta aPlant nematodes aRotational cropping1 aSCOLARI, D.
