An analysis of the relationship between L band SAR data and measurements of surface roughness, soil moisture content and leaf area index from the Brasilia National Park was developd. The vegetation, soil and geological maps from the study area were integrated in a GIS software package to produce the biophysics map. A set of 15 sites was selected for field measurements in the following biophysical units: bare soil, "Campo Limpo", "Campo Sujo", "Cerrado Tipico".
