J. aFurther evaluation of thiabendazole as a sweetpotato "seed" treatment fungicide c1972 aThiabendazole (60% WP of 2-(4-thiazoly)-benzimidazole) prevented development of black rot, caused by Ceratocystis fimbriata, on inoculated sweetpotatoes dipped in a suspension of 1/2 1b/7 1/2 gal water before bedding in sterilized soil in greenhouse pot tests. A concentration of 1/4 1b/7 1/2 gal water in these tests greatly reduced black rot and foot rot, caused by Plenodomus destruens, and eliminated scurf caused byMonilochaetes infuscans. Results of seedbed tests in the field showed no adverse effects from thiabendazole on plant production by sweetpotatoes dipped in concentration ranging up to 2 1b/7 1/2 gal water. A mixture of 1/4 1b thiabendazole and 1 1b 75% W of 2,6-dichloro-4-nitroaniline/7 1/2 gal water also gave good results in the seedbed tests. aDoença FĂșngica aBatata-doce aTratamento quimico tPlant Disease Reporter, Washingtongv. 56, n. 3, p. 219-223, marco, 1972.
