Repeatability was 0.745. The average success rate (a percentage of ewes penetrated into the uterus on all 3 succeeding attempts after the successful penetration at the first attempt) in ewes penetrated at the first of the 4 attempts in each ewe was 76.7 per cent and the average success rate in ewes not penetrated at the first attempt was 20.0 per cent. The screening of ewes on the basis of one prior attempted penetration could select those ewes to be inseminated with expensive deep-frozen semen to improve the fertility rate. aArtificial insemination aReproduction aSheep aInseminação Artificial aOvelha aOvino aInseminacao intrauterina aRepetibilidade aSemen congelado1 aROBERTS, E.
