M. aA new liquid medium for the cultivation of Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis.h[electronic resource] c1965 aNutrient broth containing 0.5 per cent yeast extract (Difco) and 1.0 per cent lactalbumin hydrolysate (N.B.C.) yielded, when inoculatedwith C. pseudotuberculosis and incubated at 37oC for 72 hours, an average packed cell volume of 1.84 per cent which corresponds to 7.36g drycells per litre. Cells obtained from this medium contained endotoxin and, when killed by formalin, produced sterile abscesses in guinea-pigs. Although the best biological activity was shown by cells obtained from 48-hour cultures, the yield was somewhat lower. Neither blood nor agar was necessary for producing cells containingendotoxin. aAnimal diseases aEndotoxins aInoculation methods aCorynebacterium Pseudotuberculosis aDoencas infecto-contagiosas aLactalbumin hydrolysate aLinfadenite1 aSWART, C.
