The methods used are; collection from the vagina of the ewe after ram service, collection with the artificial vagina, and the use of electrical stimulation. Many rams refuse to serve a ewe out of heat even after considerable training and nearly one-half the rams that have been tried refuse to serve the dummy ewe. After failure of these two methods electrical stimulation can be used. With the necessity of using more than one method of collecting, it is important to know whether these affect the semen differently. It is the purpose of this study, therefore, to compare semen quality and results from artificial insemination using semen obtained by each of the three methods mentioned above. Preliminary investigations were carried on during the season 1938?39 (1) and (2). Semen was collected from one three-year-old Rambouillet ram by each of three methods. aArtificial insemination aReproduction aSheep aInseminação Artificial aOvino aReprodução aSêmen aAndrologia tJournal of Animal Sciencegv. 1940, n. 1, p. 201-207, Dec. 1940.
