M. aSuperovulatory response in Corriedale sheep during different months of the breeding season.h[electronic resource] c1997 aTechnical note. aAbstract: Ovulatory response in 27 Corriedale ewes (born in 1991) was studied by stimulation with exogenous hormones during the months of July and August, 1994. One vaginal pessary per animal, containing fluorogestone acetate (FGA; 45 mg), was kept in situ for 9 days. Administration of PMSG (1000 IU) 1 day before pessary withdrawal induced oestrus and ovulation in all animals, except two which lost their pessaries. The ovulation rate was higher (7.6) in ewes stimulated in August than in those stimulated in July (5.2) (P < 0.05). The right ovary tended to carry more corpora lutea than the left (P > 0.05).
