M. aPotato late blight expert system written with dbase IV. c1994 ap. 353-356. aPotato late blight the leaves of potatos and is a major problem in the high-humidity climate of northeastern Florida. A relatively small area near the St Johns River south of Jacksonville, along with some other scattered areas in Florida, produce a significant amount of chipping potatoes in June, when stored supplies from other areas are low. The problem is currently handled by researchers at the hastings education and research center of the University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences. Hourly temperature and relative humidity are taken, and based on a set of rules, and on knowledge of local disease infestations, taped telephone messages are made each day, as needed. Local producers phone in, listen to the messages, and make their decisions about spraying fungicide. aAgroinformatics aComputadores aplicados a agricultura aComputer in agriculture aInformatica na agropecuaria aInformation technology in agriculture aTecnologia de informacao na agricultura1 aPAPAJORGII, P.1 aWEINGARTNER, P. tIn: INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE, 5., 1994, Orlando.
