In many Alabama fields, both species occur concomitanly and are capable of causing large yield losses. In rotations of soybean cultivars folowing a previous crop of corn, corn had no effect on M. arenaria numbers, but reduced numbers of H. glycines and increased yield by 30%. Soybean cultivars had a significant effect on yield and all other variables, as did the interaction of previous crop and cultivar. Rotation with corn can be an effective nematode control measure in fields infested with both M. arenaria and H. glycines, and can enhance yields of H. glycines susceptible cultivars. Results from another study in a field infested with H. glycines as the principal parasite indicated that there was no particular yield advantage to using sequences of alternating susceptible and resistant cultivars compared with continous plantings of a resistant cultivar; however, there were differences in H. glycines juvenile population levels in soil in response to the cultivar sequences employed. acrop rotation aNematóide aRotação de Cultura aSoja aEUA aNematode aSoybean aUSA1 aWEAVER, D.
