R. aSurface modification of ceramic household filtration candles by SiO2 sol-gel film coatings. c1999 aIn this work we used the sol-gel technique to obtain SiO2 film onto commercial household ceramic filter candles. The main aim here is to increment the wetting characteristics of these elements by increasing of Si density on the pore's surfaces. Since the number of silanois sites (SiOH) can define the degree of hydrophilization, these sites can be chemically activated to become appropriated as substrate for the immobilization of organic agents. aEDX aSEM aSiOH aTMOS1 aASSIS, O.
