One important aspect for composite manufacture is to achieve satisfactory adhesion between the fibers and the matrix. In this work, the effect of chemical modification (mercerization and acetylation) and the addition of bonding agents resorcinol/ hexamethylenetetramine on the performance sisal fibers, Agave sisalana variety, in natural rubber (RRIM 600 clone) composites was evaluated. The composites were studied by mechanical and dynamic mechanical properties. Results of tensile properties show that the addition of fibers enhanced the modulus ca. 120%.
