The buildup of bilayers is monitored by UV-vis spectroscopy and the absorbance is seen to increase linearly with the number of deposited layers. The kinetics of adsorption of each layer was also investigated. For the POMA layer a very short time period (3-5 min) suffices for complete adsorption to occur. Because adsorption is basically due to electrostatic interactions, we have probed the effects from applying electric fields on conducting glass and using charged Teflon substrates. In the latter case, successful SA film formation occurs. When electric fields are applied, however, the amount of doped POMA adsorbed increases but undesirable side effects appear such as the dedoping of the polymer which may hamper the buildup of multilayers. aadsorption aAbsorção aAuto-montagem afilmes aPolianilina aPolyaniline aSelf-assembled films1 aZUCOLOTTO, V.1 aRAPOSO, M.1 aPONTES, R.
