Recently, Brazilian scientists have placed a high priotiry on the study of frequently-grown and socioeconomically very important intercrops of beans or cowpeas with maize or other crops. Typical multiple cropping systems for different Braziian agricultural areas are described. Results are presented for experiments that evaluated various multiple cropping systems and the effect of inter- and/or relay cropping on disease and insect incidence. aCultivo Multiplo aFeijão aPhaseolus Vulgaris aVigna Unguiculata aBrasil aCaupi aSistema1 aSARTORATO, A.1 aNEVES, B.
