Cam], a Brazilian native xilophyta fruit tree was carried out to develop an appropriate micropropagation method. Nodal segments from one-year old seedlings were collected, disinfected superficially and culture on MS (1962) basal medium supplemented with a regime of BAP (6-benzylamino-purine) and IBA (indole-butyric-acid). After one-month cultivation period, the in vitro response was evaluated. the best combination produced 2.2 axillary shoots/nodal segment on semi-solid cujlture medium contnaining 0.1 mg/liter BAP. It seemed thar IBA and high concentration of BAP inhibited the vegetative growth. Vitrification, callusing and polyphenol accumulation were also detected in certain concentration of the growth regulators. abreeding amicropropagation aplant growth substances atissue culture aCultura de Tecido aMelhoramento Genético Vegetal aMicropropagação aRegulador de Crescimento aSpondias Tuberosa aUmbu1 aTEIXEIRA, J.
