M. F. aUse of agro-industrial residues for bioinsecticidal endotoxin production by Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis or kurstaki in solid state fermentation.h[electronic resource] c1997 ap.475-482 aThe feasibility of biological control, against agricultural pests and disease vectors, depends on the production of these bioagents at reduced costs, in order to compete successfully with harmful chemical insecticides. Among the entomopathogens that have been studied for biocontrol purpose, Bacillus thuringiensis is produced by submerged fermentation processes. Laboratory scale solid state fermentation processes have demonstrated effective B. thuringiensis endotoxins production, which could be adopted for small scale local production in the near future. Several factors make its local production highly desirable for pest control in developing nations. It can be cheaply produced on a wide variety of low cost, organic substrates. Local production would result in considerable monetary savings of heavy expenditure on import of chemical and biological insecticides. apests asolid state fermentation aBacillus Thuringiensis aLegislação aAgroindustrial residues aBioassay aBiocontrol aBiocontrole aBioensaio aBioinsecticide aBioinseticida aEfficacy aEficácia aFermentação semi sólida aLegislation aPragas aResíduos agroindustriais aTechniques aTécnicas1 aMORAES, I.
