C. aAportes de las mujeres a la Micología en América Latina.h[electronic resource] c2025 aThe role of women in the development of mycology in Latin America has been fundamental, although often underrepresented in historical records. This review highlights the important contributions of women mycologists from Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela — including a few Argentine colleagues— spanning from the twentieth century to the present. Their work in diverse fields, including taxonomy, plant pathology, ecology, and medical mycology is examined. Emphasis was placed on their impact on regional scientific advancement as well as on the increase of women mycologists over the years thanks to the inspiring work of pioneers in the field. The review presents the trajectories and legacies of this group of women, whose work has laid the groundwork for contemporary studies and inspired new generations of scientists. By recognizing these contributions, the present work seeks to celebrate the achievements of women in mycology and highlights the importance of promoting gender equity in science. aMycology aMicologia aGender and science aGénero y ciencia aMujeres científicas aMujeres en la Micología aScientific women aWomen in Mycology1 aMARDONES, M.1 aARCE, W.1 aMOLINA, R.
