The viral ssDNA genome (2,189 nucleotides) was amplified and Sanger?sequenced. BLASTn and sequence demarcation tool (SDT) analyzes showed that the virus from tomato shares 99% identity with a virus tentatively named as plant?associated genomovirus 12 from Larrea tridentata (Zygophyllaceae). SDT analyzes of a wide array of Genomoviridae sequences indicated this virus as a member of the genus Gemycircularvirus. This the first report of a gemycircularvirus in natural association with a species of the Solanaceae. aLarrea tridentata aSolanum lycopersicum aDNA aTomate aVĂrus aGemycircularvirus aGenomoviridae1 aBOITEUX, L.
