N. de aPhenotypic and environmental correlations based on the physical and chemical fruit traits of Passiflora edulis Sims hybrids grown in different environments.h[electronic resource] c2022 aThe objective of this study was to apply principal component analysis and evaluate the phenotypic and environmental correlations of the physical and chemical characteristics of yellow passion fruits grown in three producing regions in the state of Bahia, Brazil (Rio de Contas, Lençóis, and Dom Basílio). Fourteen yellow passion fruit hybrids were evaluated and analyzed for the number of fruits, productivity, fruit length, fruit diameter, fruit length/fruit diameter, peel thickness, fruit weight, peel weight, pulp weight without seeds, soluble solids (SS), total titratable acidity (TA), juice yield and SS/TA ratio. The results revealed variation among the hybrids within and between the distinct growing regions. The BRS Gigante Amarelo and H09-30 hybrids stood out in all three production regions. The phenotypic correlations were higher than the environmental at the different evaluation locales. In the three regions, the greatest fruit weights were obtained by selecting fruits that were larger in size, peel weight and pulp weight, with oval shape and thinner peel. Thus, the analysis of associated correlations of physical and chemical characteristics of the fruits of passion fruit genotypes evaluated in different environments can help to understand the correlations between the characteristics and direct genetic improvement actions. aGenetic improvement aMultivariate analysis aPassion fruits aMaracujá aMelhoramento Genético Vegetal aSeleção Genética1 aCRUZ NETO, A.
