Twenty Senepol bulls were genotyped, which were chosen based on their contribution to the Brazilian population, with the BovineHD BeadChip panel. Prior quality control was performed for samples, those with call rates above 0.9 remained in the analysis, and for markers, minor allele frequency (MAF) above 0.5 and call rates 0.95 were also maintained. Analyzes of ADMIXTURE and main components were performed. For the first analysis, the markers in high binding imbalance were removed. The results show that Senepol has, in greater proportion, allelic sharing with European taurines, compatible with its history. The proportion of African Taureans is small ( ̅ = 2%) and there is an average 14.4% introgression of Zebu alleles. In addition, it was possible to observe that a genetic composition similar to the locally adapted breeds of Brazil, being even closer genetically. It is concluded that the Senepol breed has predominantly European taurine ancestry and it was verified the participation of Creole cattle in its formation, probably through their use in absorbent crosses. aAdapted taurine aADMIXTURE aGenetic composition aSNP
