K. aInter-relationship among body weight and measurements in Barbari goats. c1995 aAbstract: Data of 160 Barbari kids born at Institute Farm were used to study the relationship between body weight and measurements and to develop equations of predicting body weight. In comparison to body length and wither's height, heart girth had generally higher correlation with body weight. The correlations among the body measurements (length, height, and heart girth) at various ages ranged from 0.68 to 0.87. Linear body measurements were poor predictor for birth weight but good predictor for weaning and post-weaning body weights. In comparison to body length and wither's height, heart girth could alone predict weaning and yearling weight more accurately. Prediction equation based on the combination of heart girth with body length was more effective in estimating body weight than any other combination of two body measurements. aBody measurements aBody weight aGoats aKids (goats)1 aDAS, N.1 aJOSHI, H.
