M. aInfluence of the sire on the birth weight of lambs. c1943 aBirth weights of lambs sired by Hampshire and Southdown rams were compared in a switchback trial. An average annual increase of .63 pounds in birth weight of lambs as the ewe increased in age from two to six years was observed. No significant departure from linearity was shown by the data. Lambs sired by Hampshire rams average 1.05 pounds heavier at birth than those sired by Southdowns, the difference being highly significant. aBirth Weight aLambs aSheep tJournal of Animal Sciencegv. 2, n. 2, p. 152-156, May. 1943.
