K. aSerological prevalence of bluetongue antibodies in India. c1983 aPrecipitating antibodies to bluetongue virus were detected in 78 of 669 serum samples (11.6%) from sheep, 3.7% of cattle (3 of 81) and 3% of goats (1 of 33). The serum samples were collected on farms and abattoirs in 1978-81. Most positive samples were found in Rajasthan (59 of 225), followed by Haryana (11 of 18), Uttar Pradesh (5 of 148) and Andhra Pradesh (3 of 124). The cattle and goat samples were collected in Uttar Pradesh. From the results of this limited investigation, one may conclude that the disease might have spread to wider areas. Very systematic and intensive studies should be done to avoid production losses from this disease. aBluetongue aSerology aAnticorpo aDoença animal aLíngua azul aOvino aVírus aPrevalência1 aMALLICK, B.
