C. aStudies on lipid pattern and protein content of caprine aortic athero sclerosis. c1976 aThe lipid pattern and protein content in serum and aortic tissue of 40 goats (30 goats with and 10 without fibrous plaques in aorta), aged 1-5 yr, were estimated. The average value of both total lipids (279.66 mg/100 ml) and phospholipids (1.48 mg/100 ml) in the sera of positive (with fibrous plaques in aorta) cases was high and significant [P < 0.01]. In aortic tissue the mean value of phospholipids (9.56 mg/100 g) in positive cases was significant [P < 0.05]. In the positive cases protein value was low [13.52%] and significant [P < 0.01]. The chromatographic fractionation of total lipids and phospholipids of serum and aortic tissue did not reveal any significant difference between control (without fibrous plaques in aorta) and positive cases. Resemblance between lipid/phospholipid pattern of caprine serum and aortic tissue was similar to those reported for bovine serum and aortic tissue. aAnimal physiology aGoats aArteriosclerose aCaprino aAnimal biology aArteriosclerosis1 aRAJYA, B.
